Runaways' bleak life view a
bittersweet piece of pie
By BRADSHAW BATTEN Theatre Bureau "Taken from the article"
" Most of the pieces came close to brutality and general unhappiness,
but in 'The Basketball Song', featuring Dave (Stretch) Stevenson,
who possesses a voice that would make The Temptations worry,
a humorous side is evident. Basketball, to some a way of escape
from the ghetto, was used to show Stevenson's talent with
ball and song. A long and lean man clad in flashy outfit,
he dribbled about the floor, screaming his vision and concluded
with a fifty foot jump shot that scored. He exited, strutting
his stuff."
